In Winter (Book Thoughts: Winter Street, Elin Hinderbrand)

wintertI wasn’t feeling too Christmassy during the Holidays and wasn’t in the mood for a Holiday read then. But the other day, i started reading “Winter Street,” by Elin Hildebrand and was instantly hooked. It’s a nice family read, about how things can fall apart during the holidays but because they always do, somehow things work out for everyone. It starts with a bang, with the family patriarch (Kelley) catching his young wife (Mitzi) kissing the guy who plays Santa Claus at the Christmas party. She leaves him instantly, and he has to deal with his kids coming in for the holidays. And of course each child has a problem of his own. There is never a dull moment in the book, and even though it’s January now, I couldn’t help but be touched by the Holiday spirit.
