Summer In A Bottle (Perfume Thoughts: Parfums de Nicolaï Musc Monoi)

musc-monoiSummer is halfway over, isn’t it? I was reminded of that when I went to Walgreen’s and saw the aisle for “Back To School” merchandise. Then I realized that I haven’t worn Parfum de Nicolai’s  Musc Monoi yet this year. I remember last year it was my new favorite summer scent. So yesterday as I was preparing to go to a summer party, I spritzed and smelled summer heaven in a bottle. Musc Monoi opens on my skin with a combination of summer citrus and white floral notes. But the flowers linger on, and the over all effect if gauzy and faint (but not weak) I get the ylang and petitgrain as teh most prominent. But what frames the flowers is the more interesting part: something that smells faintly of sun tan lotion, but evokes the smell of sun-drenched. This best way to describe the perfume? Like flowers were left under the sun – muted but enhanced by a shiny musk. It’s unique, and only enhanced if worn during summertime.
