His Women (Movie Thoughts: Long Nights Short Mornings)

ls‘Long Night Short Mornings,’ directed by Chad Harbold, is about James (Shiloh Fernandez) and the women in his life. He goes from one sexual encounter to another, all seemingly without meaning to him. Or does he just have his guards up? Does he really want a relationship? He doesn’t know, and we are left to interpret based on his conquests. At first I thought the film was tedious – not another hook up – but towards the end I kind of got where the film is trying to take us.  Gernandez, A John Meyer lookalike, is good enough, and I fele there’s more to this actor. But he is left mostly to his own devices here. I didn’t really dislike the film, but now, writing about it, I barely remember it.
