Hugo Boss is one of the top houses for men’s fragrance, and I don’t mean to sound like a snob, but I have yet to sample something from their line that I like. Obviously, I do not own any of their releases but their samples get to me. I usually ignore them, to be honest, but I am on this mission now to start using all my samples and wanting to write about them. For a release like Hugo Boss ‘Bottled Night,’ though, I find it really tough to write about it, because I really feel no emotion towards it. It’s a generic, pleasant release, bit there’s literally nothing about it that distinguishes it from anything at the men’s perfume counter. It’s your basic woodsy lavender release, all synthetic smelling showing no character at all. It smells like suburban dad on a night out, and while that’s not the worst thing in the world, it just really isn’t for me. I try to wonder outside that demographic, who does this really appeal to? This perfume is apparently fronted by Ryan Reynolds, so this might lure the ladies to the counter, but will they respond to it?
