Look, I am not going to tell you that ‘Little Italy’ is the best movie of all time, but I have to tell you, I kind of dug it. Maybe because I was watched it while folding a mountain load of laundry. Or maybe because it had great performances all around, from Andrea Martin to Danny Aiello, to Alyssa Milano, and not to mention the two romantic leads: Emma Roberts and Hayden Christensen. They have sweet comfortable chemistry that will make you want to believe in what they are peddling. But perhaps I am just an old romantic – this has in his heart a lot of love: of family, of tradition, of romance, and all those elements just provided what I needed at that time of my life (when I am folding my laundry? Surely) The film is a procession of non-stop cliches but they all kind of worked for me because they felt familiar and comforting. I know a lot of people have been making fun of this film, saying it looks dated, but love to me is never dated. If for anything, it is the one thing in the world that is eternal and everlasting.
