The Feed (Television Thoughts: Somebody Feed Phil, Netflix)

It’s a travel show, and a food show at the same time. It is hosted by Phil Rosenthal, who apparently is the creator of ‘Everybody Loves Raymond.’ Okay. He is this straight-laced goofy guy traveling to exotic places and trying their cuisine. I have only seen the first episode, which is set in Marrakesh. I think the locale is interesting, and of course the food looks wonderful, and Rosenthal does have a low-key charm that is very pleasant to watch. Pleasant is the key word here. It’s just that – I feel there’s no fire to the show, and maybe that’s good or bad. Do we really need to see something that is always over-produced? This kind of fits the bill if you want to watch something on a sleepy Sunday morning. But then it might take you back to a Sunday nap.
