We all knew that Robin Williams was a comedic genius, and his legacy will certainly live on through his films. Tylor Norwood’s documentary ‘Robin’s Wish’ was not supposed to be a biography documentary of his life and career, it turns out. Rather, it explains the reason for his apparent suicide – he had been suffering from an advanced dementia disease called Lewy body dementia, which made him suffer, among other things, paranoia, and anxiety. This documentary is more interested in setting the record straight, after reports of him succumbing to substance addiction.
For someone as colorful as Williams, though, the film is a bit dull. I wanted to see more of what made him legendary, and we only got a small glimpse of that. Much of what is here is somewhat clinical, and frankly, boring.
