I have extolled the virtues of Elizabeth And James’ perfumes before, and this will seem redundant, but guess what, I also love their new rose offering. Nirvana Rose.
I mean, what’s not to like? Nirvana rose is a spicy rose, with a dark rose note heart – not jammy of bright – this one is a moody rose. It is framed by vetiver, so the perfume is not as dire as it sounds, and there is a lot of patchouli after which gives it that earthy spice. It’s done very well, niche-quality. The rose is very wine-y, and I guess it makes perfect pairing with their other Nirvana release, which is very whiskey-ish
But it will probably not be my first priority. I have a lot of scents similar to this – think Byredo Rose Noir, or Serge Luten Sa Majesta – and I just have too much of this kind of rose in my collection. That doesn’t mean I don’t like it – I do. And I do like the idea of having all four of their bottles in different colors side by side in my collection. But if I were to ask an E & J scent from Santa Claus this Christmas, it would be the vanilla one .
